"He moved!" Nibbler pointed at the man with the visor and stepped away a few paces.
Lo peered closer at the bound man. Aside from shallow breaths he was still. Too still for someone that should be unconscious. He kicked the man's foot. As he made contact, the man's foot threw him off stance and Lo stumbled to his knees dropping his firearm. The man's legs nudged the gun closer to where his hands were tied.
"Stop!" Nibbler shouted. He was pointing his gun at the man in the visor. He was shaking and nervous. Lo recovered and kicked the gun away. He then picked it up and stood beside Nibbler and pointed his weapon as well.
"You're a sneaky belter aren't you?" Anyone living in an asteroid belt was seen as undesirable lower life forms, at least from core world elitists. Lo had no idea if this man was such a person but it was the only insult that came to his mind.
"Let me go and we won't kill you slowly." The rasping voice set Lo's nerves on edge.
"You're staying right there." Lo told him. He squared his shoulder and used it full height to look more threatening.
"There's no way you two could stand up against any one of my crew mates, or me. We would break you. Both of you."
"Fortunately for us, that isn't going to happen. You're tied up and you're in no position to change that."
"I wouldn't be too sure about that. There's more of us than there is of you." The bound man began to chuckle.
"Yeah. But some of you are dead already!" Nibbler declared defiantly. That information quelled his laughter but he wore a sneer that lingered.
A flash ignited beside them as the GenMod captive was struck by a shot. The man screamed and then groaned loudly. Nibbler dropped his gun and jumped back with a gasp. Lo stepped back and shielded his eyes. He spotted someone from the entrance of the engine room and fear rose into his throat.
"Don't mean to scare you boys," hearing Deeno's voice was a relief. "He was almost free."
Lo kicked Nibbler's dropped gun away and continued to point his at the remaining foe. Deeno had their one passenger by the scruff of the neck.
"Who tied them up?" Deeno asked.
"Dix and Jev."
"Figures." The beefy merc huffed. "I need to ask a few questions and if I don't get answers I'll continue shooting."
"Who hired you?"
"I'm not giving you any--" Deeno punched the man in the face.
"How much is the bounty?" The weapon specialist asked another question to which he got silence as a reply. Deeno's boot swung and cracked a rib or two. Then he pointed his gun in the mans face.
"Why should I keep you alive?" Nibbler turned his back on the scene and walked a few paces towards the wall. Lo looked at the cook briefly out of concern and before he knew it Deeno had fired.
"Let's go. We're done here."
