The story opens with Christal narrating what it's like growing up with a superhero as a father, highlighting the highs and commenting on the lows until it eventually gets to modern day where Christal is being trained by his dad and failing every test. Combat, powers, everything. He’s a terrible hero. Ultra-man says he’s still proud of him for trying and as he’s giving his son an encouraging talk, he gets a call from the oracle and invites Christal to go watch the battle as a bystander just to learn and get a first hand look at the battle scene.
Ultra man gets to downtown Mammothitus in seconds as 3 members of the dakoo, riptide, leap frog, and el conquistador are attempting to get away with very powerful oracle technology. Hybrid is trailing their car and points out how Christal isn’t ready and ultraman needs to stop bringing him as a tag along. Ultra-man insists he’s ready and even throws Christal into action against the 3 villains. Hybrid was the first on call and is the perfect street level hero to deal with this type of danger. Ultra-man stopped in front of the supercharged vehicle and the car stopped immediately. Anyone in this world knows how strong ultraman is, due to his godly reputation (similar to Superman). He tells them to step out now and nobody will get hurt. They don’t budge and he says “ok, well I warned you…this is…what’s your name again???…oh yeah christal!” Ultraman flies away and tells christal to have at it and fight them. Hybrid watches from the shadows of the alley as christal gets demolished by the three villains. He eventually interferes when it gets too brutal and almost gets overwhelmed himself. Ultra man steps in and effortlessly stops the 3 and flies them to jail and back very quickly. He rushes christal to the oracle to get care for his injuries as hybrid sees a device left by one of the guys. A man named the puppeteer is talking on the device. It seems to be their boss.
Hybrid meets the two at the hospital and shows ultra man the device and messages as he also says christal isn’t ready and might not even be cut out for a hero. Christal hears it all and holds back tears. Ultraman returns to his time and talks to him about it as hybrid senses a strange feeling. He doesn’t comment on it and brushes it off.
The camera pans to under the oracle where the same group that created hybrid are experimenting on a new organism. The creature is massive in size and resembles a gaunt, emaciated, human with a dark purple, oxygen-less skin tone. Its eyes open as they turn on the machine. The eyes dart around and look at everything in the room. The scientists release it and start hooking it up to a table. Once it gets wheeled into the operating and experimenting room and gets alone with the scientist, it quickly and brutally stabs its hand through the back of the man’s head. The creature closes its eyes and inhales deeply as the scientist’s eyes open but this time with a grayish glossy haze. The scientist grabs a nearby emergency weapon and starts to open fire on the scientists in the other rooms. The creature walks over to a wounded scientist and looks at him for a while before saying “the reaping has begun. Feel lucky you’re one of the first to join.” Before reaching into his head and doing the same possession.
The scene then changes back to Christal 2 weeks later, fully recovered from his injuries, training in the same way he was before but doing everything more successfully than before. Ultra man tells him he’s impressed and that he might be able to join the oracle any day now. Christal is happy with himself, but wants to make a difference now and says he knows where the dakoo’s leader is. Ultraman is shocked but listens as Christal explains he looked at the device on Ultraman’s computer and figured out the coordinates which were in reverse and alternating order. Ultraman tells Christal he’s impressed and that he should tell hybrid and a few of the others immediately. He tells Christal that this is HIS fight, he figured it out, and it’s only right that he bring down the man or men in charge of injuring him. Christal, feeling inspired heads out to inform the oracle, this time flying without projectiles.
The scene switches to a family setting up for family dinner as you see a father and mother obviously in love, as a child runs throughout the house and ends up sitting upstairs in front of his TV, about to turn it on as he sees a reflection in the screen. The reflection is a nearly 12 foot tall, skinny human smiling down at him with a helmet made of bone. He screams for his dad who runs upstairs and opens his door in confusion. The kid claims there’s a monster in his room, the dad doesn’t believe him and checks every spot. He’s about to tell his child there’s nothing in the house as he hears a shotgun blast and his wife screaming. He runs down stairs and is in shock as his wife, who is the superhero, buckshot, is gushing blood and a huge humanoid creature is looming over her. It smiles and wipes its bloody hand on its face. Buckshot’s husband runs downstairs and goes to his wife’s arsenal. He grabs two revolvers and runs back upstairs as quick as he can and throws them to her. She fires multiple rounds in the creature as it walks towards her hunched over, unphased by each round from the powerful guns. It stops for a second and looks to the husband and says in an almost indecipherable voice “I failed to introduce myself. I’m the reaper. Your woman is my first superhero.” It then grabs her by the throat and starts to reach into the top of her head with its claws. The husband grabs the shotgun off the floor and shoots at the creature’s face. The bullets fall to the floor as the creature laughs and finishes possessing buckshot. He then whispers something to her as she gains consciousness. The reaper walks away laughing as you see buckshot in the background with pistols in hand shoot her husband over and over. She then looks at her son and walks away as he watches from the stairs in horror and despair. Both of his parents have now been lost.
Cut to a change of night to day as Christal is preparing to leave for his first mission. He, Hybrid, Encephelchi, and Ragnar are on a ship with very awkward silence as Christal plays his music and taps his feet. He’s listening to ABBA thinking his earbuds are connected when in reality, Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! Is playing on full volume as 3 of the world’s most powerful and respected heroes are watching. Encephelchi tells him and the rest of the ride is sat in silence.
Ultraman arrives back home from the skies and he starts to relax. He looks around as if something is wrong and sees the reaper standing in the doorway, hunched over smiling at him. Ultraman warns the thing to leave before it gets ugly, but the creature just smiles and laughs as it walks closer to the world famous hero. Ultraman springs into action and throws the creature through the ceiling into the sky. He flies up after him and punches the creature several times in the air before grabbing his foot and slamming it down from several hundred feet in the air to the ground at hundreds of miles per hour. Ultraman flies down to the creature in awe as it looks unharmed, but unconscious. He starts to laser it and the creature springs up very quickly to greet Ultraman with a punch with more force than he hit the creature with. He flies into the house in his wall with so much power that all of the walls and support system’s in the building are demolished instantly. Ultraman struggles to get up and sees the monster running at him full speed with 4 gauntlets seemingly made of human bones on his 4 hands.
Scene cuts to Christal and some of the oracle landing on the moon, where the dakoo’s base is set up. They rush in and in a very high energy action scene, they fight the dakoo members as Christal starts actually mastering his powers and eventually gets to riptide, the last villain he fought who knocked him out. The fight cuts between the oracle successfully beating the dakoo, Christal taking on all 3 of his previous assailants, and Ultraman getting killed by the reaper. In the end of this action packed scene, accompanied by “Back in black”, Ultraman takes his final breath as the reaper digs into the back of his skull and possesses him.
The oracle find Christal about to kill Riptide who is begging for mercy. They talk him out of hurting him, leapfrog, or el conquistador any more than he already has. As he settles down, a voice comes over the PA saying they’ll never find him. It’s the puppeteer. Just then, they see a ship take off at hyper speed in the opposite direction from earth. The few oracle members on that mission head back in very high spirits as they return to earth with no idea about what they’re coming home to. As they make it back to earth, Hybrid has over 30 missed calls from Boundless, the leader of the Bwahokin empire, and an ally of the oracle. Hybrid calls and is shocked to hear boundless, who is one of the most fearless and powerful heroes in the world, scared and panicked. He mentions the reaping and says multiple oracle members are trying to get into the main city including Ultraman and a very tall being who seems to be their leader. Boundless tells hybrid that the creature calls himself the reaper and says he wants to see his older brother who he claims is hybrid. Christal starts panicking and asking why his dad would be attacking their allies, and the ship immediately speeds up and heads towards Bwahoki.
As they arrive boundless rushes to their ship and begs for them to call the rest of the oracle which include: “Cheetahman” a cocky speedster, “Aeyorthrek the Alien Queen” a superhero with powers similar to Martian manhunter, and “Power-man” a superhero with every super power imaginable but with limited control over which ones he ends up using. The 3 reinforcement superheroes fly to Bwahoki, Africa in less than 30 minutes from Mammothitus, Michigan. Christal’s mind is racing still as he ponders what his father will be like, what’s wrong with him, and if he’ll be ok.
The oracle starts to take their stand against the Reaper’s forces and a huge battle commences. Hybrid immediately flys by all of the reaper’s mind controlled zombie soldiers and takes on the reaper himself. Christal sets out to find his father who is still himself physically, but a glossy red tint fills his eyes and his once white and blue suit is covered in dry blood. Christal try’s to talk to his father who rushes at Christal and throws him nearly a mile into the sky with no remorse for his life. The fight rages on and Christal is getting beaten to death by his father, one of the most powerful beings in the universe, and hybrid is getting slaughtered by the reaper who is giving monologues about how he will reap the earth and cleanse it once and for all of humanity. As it seems the oracle is being defeated and Bwahoki is falling, a huge blast of light blue crystals fly through the sky and a scream saying “DAD NO” fill the battlefield. Christal’s abilities unleashed themself in self defense as his dad almost killed him. The beams of crystal energy killed Ultraman instantly, leaving Christal with heavy grief, sadness, and rage which he immediately takes out on the reaper. Christal starts using his powers as if he’s the most powerful being in the universe. He shoots crystal energy out of his hands, eyes, mouth, and everywhere at the reaper. He starts breaking the reapers bone armor with his bare hands and ends up killing the reaper in a brutal manor, immediately freeing all of his zombies from their curses. All who were possessed die instantly.
“Short change hero” plays as the oracle leave with a sad sense of blood on their hands, having stopped the reaper, but killing their possessed teammates in the process. The story ends with Christal taking down crime in a new, blue and grey suit honoring his dad, the fallen hero of Mammothitus. Hybrid mourns over his fallen teammates and even feels remorse for the reaper who wasn’t even supposed to come into this world but was a product of experimentation like him. Hybrid and Boundless city over the rubble of Bwahoki.
POST CREDITS:
Dark, metallic, futuristic boots walk down a sleek, clean hallway. There are languages being spoken that sound alien. Everyone stops speaking when he passes. The boots stop at a door that slides open. The boots continue walking into an orange floored room. Subtitle's appear on the screen reading "Klyog, Bountymaster was defeated by The Oracle, single handedly at that. There's one they call Ultra-man who poses a threat to our mission." The camera has been panning up and by the end of the sentence the back of alien's head is reveal. It's grey and has marks/tattoos all over it. He carries two large swords on his back. He replies in a deep, calm voice, "Route to earth. I won't leave their planet until he's dead."
