14 Crysohs, the Year of the Withergreen (186 RS)

There is a saying in the daemon tongue: “atgi na dum,” which translates to “borrowed time”. This is often used to describe my grandfather Reaper Dreizhar Andurth, ruler of Etias. He is a lich, and he stands as the embodiment of death, with his flesh long since decayed from his bones.  I do not describe my grandfather as an evil being, though his appearance would lead many to inauspiciousness. I have heard many stories told to the youth about Reaper Dreizhar stealing their souls in their sleep. Despite his being a lich, it’s preposterous to me that anyone would believe such nonsensical fables.

Reaper Dreizhar is a master of death magic. I am his student in the dark art, with my pedigree deeply embedded in the ways of necromancy. At my birth, he declared I was destined to be the heir to his throne. He superseded my father’s birthright to pass onto me, because of my eyes. My stare depicts the lie of existence and the horror which they cause symbolize the reality of death. I recall the day I was dealt with the bitter truth of who I am and what I must represent. I hold the answer that all mortal ask. What lies between life and death?

Immortality.
