For this Worldbuilding Showdown, we want to know about heroes and villains!
Choose to write for either #TeamHeroes or #TeamVillains and submit your entry before March 20th; the team with the most submissions wins the Showdown!
Here are some ideas for both teams to get your started!
Team Heroes
Heroes are those who save the day, who are willing to sacrifice themselves those who can't protect themselves. But they can also be the neighbor next door who makes sure your cats are always fed when you're not home. Here are some ideas:
- Someone's personal hero or role model.
- A volunteer for a charity.
- Someone who accidentally did a good deed.
- A sysadmin keeping the servers up against all odds.
- A villain who sees themselves as the hero.
Team Villains
Villains want to see the world burn or otherwise oppose the status quo in a villanous way. Some have understandable motivations, while others are just pure evil. And yet others find themselves in the position of a villain without having planned for it. Here are some ideas:
- An honorable but evil person. If only they could restore their honor...
- A hero's nemesis, wanting to destroy a specific character but nothing else.
- A personification of pure evil in your world.
- Someone who saw no way to survive other than becoming a villain.
- A hero that many people consider a villain.
Ready? Grab your hammer, pick a side, and fight for your team!

Rules
- The article you submit needs to be at least 300 words long. There's no maximum word count.
- You can't submit to both teams! If you do, both of your entries will be disqualified from the challenge and you will not get either badge.
- Your article must be submitted before the closing time to be eligible, and it must be public and published.
- Only one article may be submitted per person (this does not mean one article per world, in cases where multiple authors work on a single world).
- World Anvil retains the right to arbitrate and/or change the rules where necessary to uphold the spirit and integrity of this event and the community. We will communicate changes as necessary.
- As always, World Anvil claims no ownership over your original work.
